MSC Dry Dock Schedule 2026-2029
The MSC Cruises' Dry Dock Schedule includes all current MSC ships, with details on upcoming scheduled dry docks as well as those recently completed. Cruise lines typically plan routine dry docks up to two years in advance to minimize the need to cancel or modify itineraries after bookings open. However, schedule changes are not uncommon. Unplanned events, such as significant mechanical issues, can require adjustments to the schedule, often creating a cascading effect, resulting in itinerary changes or even cancellations for two or more ships.
While sailing on a freshly refurbished ship straight out of dry dock can be a wonderful experience, a last-minute cruise cancellation due to an extended dry dock period can be deeply disappointing. We recommend keeping this possibility in mind when planning your cruise.

MSC Armonia completed a scheduled dry dock at Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport. The approximately $30 million project included maintenance, technical, regulatory and classification work, along with renovations to public areas and passenger staterooms ahead of the ship’s return to Caribbean service.
MSC Armonia completed an extensive lengthening and refurbishment at Fincantieri’s Palermo shipyard as part of MSC Cruises’ Renaissance Programme. The ship was cut in two and a 24-meter prefabricated midsection was inserted, increasing capacity and adding 193 passenger cabins. The project also included new and enlarged dining and entertainment areas, expanded children’s facilities, an upgraded MSC Aurea Spa, a new spray park and extensive refurbishment of existing accommodations and public spaces.
MSC Bellissima completed a scheduled dry dock at Huarun Dadong Dockyard in Shanghai. Work included routine maintenance, hull cleaning and painting, repairs, renewal inspections and classification testing, along with refurbishment and refreshing of public areas.
MSC Divina is scheduled for a dry dock in April 2027. MSC Cruises has confirmed that the refurbishment will include a redesigned MSC Yacht Club restaurant featuring a contemporary layout with darker tones, soft textures, upgraded lighting and architectural partitions intended to improve privacy while maintaining panoramic sea views. A specific shipyard has not been publicly confirmed.
MSC Divina completed a scheduled dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. The three-week yard period focused on routine maintenance, technical work, class inspections and renovation work, with no major conversion or refurbishment announced. The ship departed the shipyard on May 7 and returned to passenger service on May 9, 2025.
MSC Divina completed an extended shipyard stay at Palumbo Malta Shipyard during the COVID-19 operational pause. The work included maintenance, repairs, inspections and refurbishment in preparation for the ship’s eventual return to passenger service. Available records place Divina at Valletta from May 7 through June 6, although I cannot verify that the vessel spent this entire period physically in dry dock.
MSC Fantasia is scheduled for a dry dock in December 2026. MSC Cruises has confirmed that the refurbishment will include a redesigned MSC Yacht Club restaurant featuring a contemporary layout with darker tones, soft textures, upgraded lighting and architectural partitions intended to improve privacy while retaining panoramic sea views. A specific shipyard has not been publicly confirmed.
MSC Fantasia completed a scheduled dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. Work included routine technical maintenance, classification inspections and certification work, machinery servicing and selected interior renovations and hotel-area upgrades. The ship left the yard on October 11 and returned to passenger service on October 13, 2023.
MSC Grandiosa completed its first scheduled five-year dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. Work included cleaning and repainting more than 17,000 square meters of hull with a silicon-based coating, complete overhaul and inspection of both Azipod propulsion units, steel and pipe work, testing of lifeboat and rescue-boat davits, classification inspections and routine technical maintenance.

MSC Magnifica underwent a major refurbishment at Palumbo Malta Shipyard beginning October 29, 2025, in one of MSC Cruises' largest fleet upgrades of the decade. The project introduced MSC Yacht Club with 63 suites and added two specialty dining venues, Butcher's Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar.
MSC Aurea Spa was extensively redesigned, while the Technogym Fitness Center was upgraded with new workout studios, a Gentleman's Barber and an expanded outdoor Aurea area. The major refurbishment was completed in December 2025 before MSC Magnifica resumed Mediterranean service ahead of its 2026 World Cruise.
MSC Magnifica completed a scheduled dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. Work included routine maintenance and technical work, class inspections, general upkeep and refurbishment of hotel areas and passenger cabins, and application of MSC Cruises’ updated livery treatment.
MSC Musica is undergoing a major late-2026 refurbishment before beginning its South American season. The ship's published operational gap runs from September 14 through November 16, 2026.
MSC Cruises has confirmed that the project will add MSC Yacht Club with 63 suites, a private Top Sail Lounge, dedicated restaurant, private sundeck, two hot tubs, a grill and bar, together with 24-hour butler and concierge service. Butcher's Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar will be added. MSC Aurea Spa will be refreshed, and the fitness facilities will receive Technogym equipment and broader upgrades.
MSC Musica completed a scheduled dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. The ship was cut apart and a 24-meter prefabricated midship section was inserted, increasing its length from 251 to 275 meters. The project added 193 passenger cabins plus new crew accommodations, expanded entertainment and public spaces, introduced new children’s facilities and a water park, renovated existing accommodations and added technological and environmental upgrades.
MSC Orchestra is scheduled for a major refurbishment in early 2027, with an approximately nine-week operational gap from January 9 through March 13. MSC Cruises has confirmed that the project will add MSC Yacht Club, Butcher's Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar. MSC Aurea Spa will be refreshed, while the fitness facilities will be upgraded with Technogym equipment. A specific shipyard has not been publicly confirmed.
MSC Poesia entered Palumbo Malta Shipyard on February 26, 2026 for a major refurbishment ahead of its first Alaska season. The project introduced MSC Yacht Club with 69 suites and dedicated private amenities, along with Butcher's Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar.
The refurbishment also included substantial wellness and fitness improvements, with redesigned spa and gym facilities and additional upgraded passenger spaces. The project represented the second major Musica-class refurbishment at the Maltese shipyard following the transformation of MSC Magnifica.
MSC Poesia completed a scheduled dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. Work included routine technical maintenance, machinery servicing, hull inspection and maintenance, classification and regulatory work, and general refurbishment in preparation for the ship’s return to passenger service.
MSC Preziosa is scheduled for a dry dock in February 2028. MSC Cruises has confirmed that the refurbishment will include installation of the redesigned MSC Yacht Club restaurant, completing the announced Fantasia-class rollout. The restaurant design incorporates a contemporary layout, darker tones, soft textures, upgraded lighting and architectural partitions intended to improve privacy while retaining panoramic sea views. A specific shipyard has not been publicly confirmed.
MSC Preziosa completed a scheduled dry dock at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam. Work included routine technical and classification maintenance, removal of marine growth, hull cleaning and repainting, inspection and servicing of thrusters, stabilizers and propellers, and refurbishment of passenger areas with replacement of flooring, carpeting and upholstery. The ship returned to passenger service in Hamburg, Germany on April 13, 2025.
MSC Seashore completed a scheduled dry dock at Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport, The Bahamas, from April 1 through April 19, 2026. The shipyard period included scheduled technical maintenance, inspections, class work, general upkeep and refurbishment before the ship returned to passenger service.
MSC Seaview completed a scheduled dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. Work included routine technical maintenance, hull inspection and servicing, classification and regulatory work, machinery maintenance and general refurbishment of passenger and public areas.
MSC Sinfonia completed an extensive scheduled dry dock and refurbishment at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta. Work included extensive steelwork in accommodation and machinery spaces, overhaul of the stabilizers and thrusters, hydro-jet cleaning of the underwater hull, maintenance of cold-ironing equipment, piping, decks, lifeboats and robotic window systems, along with refurbishment of passenger areas and accommodations.
