MSC Opera completed a scheduled three-week dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Valletta in preparation for its return to passenger service. Work focused on routine maintenance along with technical, regulatory and classification-related work following the ship’s extended operational pause.

MSC Opera completed an extensive lengthening and refurbishment at Fincantieri’s Palermo shipyard as part of MSC Cruises’ Renaissance Programme. The ship was cut apart and a 24-meter prefabricated midship section was inserted, increasing its length from 251 to 275 meters. The project added 193 passenger cabins plus new crew accommodations, expanded entertainment and public spaces, introduced new children’s facilities and a water park, renovated existing accommodations and added technological and environmental upgrades.
