Royal Caribbean Dry Dock Schedule 2026-2027
The Royal Caribbean International's Dry Dock Schedule includes all current Royal Caribbean ships, with details on upcoming scheduled dry docks as well as those recently completed. Cruise lines typically plan routine dry docks up to two years in advance to minimize the need to cancel or modify itineraries after bookings open. However, schedule changes are not uncommon. Unplanned events, such as significant mechanical issues, can require adjustments to the schedule, often creating a cascading effect, resulting in itinerary changes or even cancellations for two or more ships.
While sailing on a freshly refurbished ship straight out of dry dock can be a wonderful experience, a last-minute cruise cancellation due to an extended dry dock period can be deeply disappointing. We recommend keeping this possibility in mind when planning your cruise.
Adventure of the Seas completed an approximately two-week scheduled dry dock at Navantia in Cádiz, Spain, in November 2024. The project included routine technical maintenance, class work and inspections together with maintenance and refurbishment of public areas and passenger accommodations before the ship returned to service.
Allure of the Seas underwent an extended Royal Amplified modernization at Navantia Cádiz from February through April 2025. Representing an investment of more than $100 million, the project combined scheduled technical and hotel work with extensive passenger-area modernization. The pool deck was completely reimagined with resort-style pools, additional seating and shade, casitas, The Perfect Storm waterslides, Splashaway Bay, The Lime & Coconut and El Loco Fresh. New or reworked dining, bar and entertainment venues included Pesky Parrot, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade and The Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar, while the Ultimate Abyss and a new Royal Escape Room added additional attractions. The project also included expanded accommodations and broad refurbishment throughout the ship.
Brilliance of the Seas completed a scheduled dry dock in 2018. The historical record confirms the shipyard period, while a detailed authoritative work scope was not retained for this backfill.
Explorer of the Seas underwent a scheduled dry dock at Navantia in Cádiz, Spain, beginning January 29, 2023. Unlike the larger Royal Amplified modernization that had previously been planned for the ship, this project primarily consisted of scheduled technical maintenance, inspections and general refurbishment. Passenger-facing work included the installation of The Perfect Storm waterslides before Explorer of the Seas returned to service.
Freedom of the Seas underwent an approximately $116 million Royal Amplified modernization in early 2020. The extensive project introduced a redesigned Caribbean-style pool deck, Splashaway Bay, The Lime & Coconut and The Perfect Storm waterslides. Dining and entertainment additions included Giovanni's Italian Kitchen, El Loco Fresh, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi and Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. Adventure Ocean and teen spaces were also redesigned, with broader passenger-area, hotel and technical work completed throughout the ship.
Harmony of the Seas completed an approximately seven-week Royal Amplified dry dock at Navantia Cádiz from April 3 through May 21, 2026. The project combined technical maintenance with extensive passenger-area modernization, including a Caribbean-inspired pool deck with The Lime & Coconut and a refreshed adults-only Solarium. New dining and entertainment options included Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, El Loco Fresh and Samba Grill. The project also introduced new accommodations including the Ultimate Family Suite, expanded and refreshed hotel areas throughout the ship, and transformed Casino Royale into the largest casino in Royal Caribbean's fleet.
Independence of the Seas underwent an approximately 30-day, $110 million modernization in 2018 as part of Royal Caribbean's Royal Amplified program. Major additions included Sky Pad, The Perfect Storm waterslides, glow-in-the-dark laser tag and an escape-room experience. New and reworked dining and entertainment venues included Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, Fish & Ships, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi and Sugar Beach, with extensive additional passenger-area refurbishment completed throughout the ship.
Liberty of the Seas completed an approximately five-week Royal Amplified dry dock at Damen Shiprepair Brest in spring 2026. In addition to routine technical maintenance and refurbishment, the project introduced a completely reimagined pool deck with The Lime & Coconut and private casitas, along with a new Royal Escape Room. Dining additions included Izumi Teppanyaki and El Loco Fresh, while Starbucks was added and Casino Royale was expanded.
Liberty of the Seas completed a scheduled dry dock in 2021. The period covered technical maintenance and general refurbishment before the ship returned to service.
Mariner of the Seas underwent an approximately $120 million modernization in 2018 that substantially transformed the ship for its new short-cruise deployment. Major additions included Sky Pad, The Perfect Storm racer waterslides, glow-in-the-dark laser tag and Escape Room: The Observatorium. The project also introduced The Bamboo Room, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade and additional dining and entertainment experiences, together with new accommodations and extensive refurbishment of existing passenger areas.
Navigator of the Seas underwent an approximately $115 million Royal Amplified modernization in 2019. The project introduced a completely reimagined Caribbean-style pool deck, The Lime & Coconut, The Perfect Storm waterslides and The Blaster aqua coaster. New and reworked venues included The Bamboo Room, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade and To Dry For, Royal Caribbean's first standalone blow-dry bar at sea. Adventure Ocean and other passenger areas were also redesigned as part of the extensive shipwide refurbishment.
Oasis of the Seas underwent a 63-day, approximately $165 million Royal Amplified modernization in 2019. The extensive project reimagined the pool deck and added Splashaway Bay, The Lime & Coconut and The Perfect Storm waterslides, while the Ultimate Abyss added a major new attraction at the stern. New and reworked dining, beverage and entertainment venues included Music Hall, Portside BBQ, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, El Loco Fresh, Sugar Beach and Spotlight Karaoke. The project also included broad refurbishment of accommodations, public areas and technical systems throughout the ship.
Ovation of the Seas underwent a Royal Amplified modernization at Seatrium Tuas Boulevard in Singapore in spring 2026, combining technical maintenance with substantial passenger-area refurbishment. The project included a completely revamped pool deck with private casitas and a new whirlpool. New and reworked venues included Giovanni's Italian Kitchen, Izumi Teppanyaki, the Pesky Parrot tiki bar and Sound Cellar, while Casino Royale was expanded. New accommodation categories included the Ultimate Family Suite and Panoramic Suite before the ship returned to service.
Radiance of the Seas completed a 25-day scheduled dry dock at Grand Bahama Shipyard from January 20 through February 13, 2026. The project included hull inspection, routine technical maintenance, class work and general refurbishment, along with minor passenger-area refreshing including upholstery updates before the ship returned to service.
Serenade of the Seas completed a scheduled dry dock in March 2025. The period covered routine technical maintenance and general passenger-area refresh work.
Voyager of the Seas underwent an approximately $97 million Royal Amplified modernization in 2019. The project introduced The Perfect Storm racer waterslides, revitalized Vitality Spa and substantially redesigned children's and teen spaces. Seventy-two additional staterooms were added, together with broader passenger-area, hotel and technical improvements, before the ship returned to service from Singapore in October 2019.
