Freedom of the Seas underwent an approximately $116 million Royal Amplified modernization in early 2020. The extensive project introduced a redesigned Caribbean-style pool deck, Splashaway Bay, The Lime & Coconut and The Perfect Storm waterslides. Dining and entertainment additions included Giovanni's Italian Kitchen, El Loco Fresh, Izumi Hibachi & Sushi and Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. Adventure Ocean and teen spaces were also redesigned, with broader passenger-area, hotel and technical work completed throughout the ship.
