Wi-Fi for Multiple Devices

Hi everyone,

I'm planning my first Royal Caribbean cruise and will need internet access for both my laptop and my phone. I noticed that internet packages are usually sold per device, but I'm wondering how flexible they are in practice.

If I buy a package for one device, can I log out from my phone and then log in on my laptop as often as I want during the cruise, or is there a limit to how many times I can switch between devices each day? Also, does logging out properly prevent accidental extra charges?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has tried this recently. Thanks!

Yes, you can switch between your phone and laptop (or any devices) as often as you want on a Royal Caribbean VOOM internet package. There is no daily or per-cruise limit on switches.

How Device Switching Works

Royal Caribbean sells VOOM packages (Surf or Surf + Stream) based on the number of devices that can be connected at the same time (you can choose 1, 2, 3, or 4 simultaneous devices). You can use as many different devices as you like over the course of the cruise the limit only applies to how many are online together.

For a single-device package (the most common choice for solo or light use):
  • Only one device can be actively connected at any moment.
  • You can freely switch between your phone, laptop, tablet, etc.
To switch devices:
  1. On your current device, open a browser and go to logoff.com (or logout.com both are commonly used). This logs you out and frees the connection.
  2. On your new device, connect to the “royal-wifi” network.
  3. Open a browser and go to login.com (or any website) you’ll be redirected to the login page.
  4. Log in with your VOOM credentials (usually tied to your last name + stateroom or the account you created).
Many passengers report that simply trying to log in on the second device will prompt you with an option to “switch devices” or kick the other session offline automatically.

Pro tip: After logging out on one device, turn off Wi-Fi or enable Airplane Mode on it (or restart the browser) to prevent it from auto-reconnecting and causing a “device limit reached” error.

Does Logging Out Prevent Extra Charges?

Yes. Properly logging out with logoff.com releases the connection cleanly. There are no per-switch fees or usage-based charges beyond the package you purchased. Packages are sold for the full cruise (or as daily passes), so your cost is fixed once you buy. Logging in and out multiple times won’t trigger extra billing.

Just avoid leaving multiple devices actively trying to connect at once on a single-device plan the system will block or prompt an upgrade if you exceed your simultaneous limit.

Best practice: Buy your package in advance through the Royal Caribbean app or Cruise Planner it’s almost always cheaper than onboard rates. Prices vary by ship, itinerary length, and promotions, but pre-cruise deals are consistently better.
