The Los Angeles class nuclear-powered attack submarines are the most numerous SSN class in U.S. Navy history. Highly capable in anti-submarine, anti-surface, and strike warfare, all boats currently in active duty are the latest Flight III version which are quieter, carry more advanced electronics, sensors, noise-reduction technology and have vertical launch systems for Tomahawk missiles.
