Carnival Valor completed a 21-day dry dock at Chantier Naval de Marseille as part of Carnival's preparations to return the vessel to service following the COVID-19 shutdown. The ship underwent scheduled technical maintenance, inspection and repair work and received Carnival's new red, white and blue hull livery, becoming the fourth ship in the fleet to receive the new design. The yard period prepared Carnival Valor for her eventual return to passenger operations from New Orleans in November 2021.

Carnival Valor completed an extensive refurbishment at Grand Bahama Shipyard that introduced a major collection of Carnival's Fun Ship 2.0 features. New venues included Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, RedFrog Pub, Alchemy Bar, SkyBox Sports Bar and Cherry on Top. The project also upgraded the Camp Ocean children's facilities, refreshed accommodations and public spaces, and included technical work such as installation of shoreside power capability and new hull coating.

Carnival Valor completed a scheduled refurbishment at Grand Bahama Shipyard that introduced the Serenity adults-only retreat, featuring upgraded lounge furniture, shaded seating and dedicated relaxation areas. The ship also received general maintenance and cosmetic refurbishment of accommodations and public spaces during the yard period before returning to Caribbean service from Miami.
