Carnival Freedom completed its scheduled European shipyard refurbishment at Chantier Naval de Marseille. The project restored the traditional whale-tail funnel with a shorter replacement structure designed to permit access to additional ports, following the March 2024 funnel fire and emergency stabilization work. The casino was expanded with more than 100 additional gaming machines, the video arcade and retail spaces were refreshed, and accessibility improvements were made throughout the ship. Carnival's From Sea to Shining Sea bow crest was also applied. The shipyard period included the previously documented routine maintenance, class inspections and general upkeep. Guest service resumed from Barcelona on October 9, 2026.
