Costa Venezia was transferred from Costa Cruises to Carnival Cruise Line in Cádiz, Spain, on March 22, 2023 and subsequently underwent an extensive conversion into Carnival Venezia. The project created Carnival's first Fun Italian Style ship, retaining the vessel's Italian-inspired design while introducing Carnival branding, dining, beverage, entertainment and guest-experience concepts. The converted ship departed Europe in May and entered Carnival passenger service with its inaugural voyage from Barcelona on May 29, 2023, ahead of its deployment from New York.
