Viking Dry Dock Schedule 2026-2029
The Viking's Dry Dock Schedule includes all current Viking ships, with details on upcoming scheduled dry docks as well as those recently completed. Cruise lines typically plan routine dry docks up to two years in advance to minimize the need to cancel or modify itineraries after bookings open. However, schedule changes are not uncommon. Unplanned events, such as significant mechanical issues, can require adjustments to the schedule, often creating a cascading effect, resulting in itinerary changes or even cancellations for two or more ships.
While sailing on a freshly refurbished ship straight out of dry dock can be a wonderful experience, a last-minute cruise cancellation due to an extended dry dock period can be deeply disappointing. We recommend keeping this possibility in mind when planning your cruise.

Viking Jupiter completed its first scheduled dry dock at San Giorgio del Porto in Genoa from October 26 through November 7, 2023. The reported scope consisted principally of routine maintenance, classification work, technical overhauls and inspections. No reliable passenger-venue changes or major accommodation alterations were identified.
Professional divers cleaned marine growth from Viking Orion's underwater hull while the vessel was anchored in international waters off South Australia, near Victor Harbor and Kangaroo Island. Australian authorities had required the cleaning before allowing the ship to enter subsequent ports because of biosecurity concerns.
The intervention followed denied or cancelled calls in New Zealand, Tasmania and South Australia during the ship's December 2022-January 2023 holiday voyage. Viking Venus underwent a scheduled dry dock at Seatrium Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore from March 24 through April 5, 2026. The project included modernization, renovation and maintenance work. Contractor-documented passenger-area work covered the spa, infinity pool and other public spaces, focusing on repairs, upkeep and preservation of the ship's interior finishes.
The former Viking Sun underwent a lengthy shipyard modernization and rebranding period at Yiu Lian's Shenzhen facility from April 15 through September 29, 2021, in connection with its transfer to the China Merchants-Viking joint venture.
During the transition, the vessel was renamed Zhao Shang Yi Dun, transferred to the Chinese flag and prepared for domestic luxury cruise service from Shenzhen. The renamed ship began operating from Shenzhen on October 1, 2021.
The vessel, then operating as Viking Sun, underwent repair, maintenance and upgrade work at Harland & Wolff in Belfast during two stays: June 23-July 1 and July 14-August 29, 2020. The ship left Belfast between the two periods before returning to continue the project.
