The SuperStar Aquarius was decommissioned and beached for scrapping in Alang, India, on November 26, 2022, following the bankruptcy of its parent company, Genting Hong Kong. The ship, along with its sister ship SuperStar Gemini, had been laid up in Hambantota, Sri Lanka, since late June 2022 before its final voyage to the Alang shipbreaking yard.
