The ships feature the AquaTheater, FlowRider surf simulators, and the Ultimate Abyss 10-deck dry slide. The class has a revolutionary split-superstructure design that maximizes open deck space and includes the first rock-climbing wall and zip line at sea.

Adventure of the Seas Dry Dock History

Previous Dry Dock
November 8, 2024 - November 22, 2024
Shipyard
Navantia Cádiz
Duration
15 days
Adventure of the Seas underwent a scheduled dry dock at Navantia Cádiz that combined class inspections and technical maintenance with refurbishment of passenger accommodations and public areas. Work included repainting, replacement of carpeting in numerous areas, refreshed furnishings, cabin door-lock upgrades, new sound systems in the Royal Promenade and Windjammer, work on pools and hot tubs, and other hotel and guest-area improvements. New passenger accommodations were also added in space previously used for meeting facilities. Severe weather and flooding in Cádiz disrupted the project and delayed completion by two days, with some finishing work continuing after the ship returned to service.

Adventure of the Seas underwent a 30-day refurbishment at Grand Bahama Shipyard to complete major elements of the ship’s $61 million modernization that had been deferred following Hurricane Matthew during the 2016 dry dock. Work included the addition of new interior and ocean-view staterooms, Izumi Japanese Cuisine and a dedicated Suite Lounge, together with refurbishment of existing accommodations and completion of other outstanding modernization work.

Adventure of the Seas underwent the first phase of a planned $61 million revitalization at Grand Bahama Shipyard. Major additions included The Perfect Storm’s Cyclone and Typhoon racer waterslides, a FlowRider surf simulator, Splashaway Bay children’s aqua park and a redesigned two-level miniature golf course. The project also included passenger-area improvements and substantial technical modernization, including replacement of propulsion drive controls and installation of new propulsion control panels. Hurricane Matthew severely affected Freeport immediately before the dry dock and disrupted the project, preventing several planned enhancements from being completed. The unfinished work was subsequently completed during a second major refurbishment in 2018.
