The Chungnam class guided-missile frigates are multi-role surface combatants of the Republic of Korea Navy featuring a CODLOG propulsion system, an integrated mast with fixed-array AESA radars, and a 16-cell K-VLS for surface-to-air, anti-submarine, and land-attack missiles. They mount a 127 mm Mk 45 gun, indigenous CIWS-II, anti-ship missiles, and dual triple torpedo tubes, with enhanced anti-air and anti-submarine capabilities, a hangar for one medium helicopter. Six ships planned (under construction/commissioning from 2022 onward) by Hyundai Heavy Industries, SK Oceanplant, and Hanwha Ocean.
