Carnival Triumph underwent a 38-day, approximately $200 million bow-to-stern transformation in Cádiz, Spain, beginning March 1, 2019, emerging as Carnival Sunrise. The extensive project was part of Carnival's fleetwide enhancement program and substantially rebuilt the ship's passenger experience rather than serving as a routine maintenance dry dock.

The transformation introduced or refreshed a broad range of Carnival dining, beverage and entertainment concepts, including Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, Fahrenheit 555, Cucina del Capitano, Chef's Table, RedFrog Pub, Piano Bar 88 and Limelight Lounge. Recreation and family-area improvements included SportsSquare, WaterWorks, Serenity and upgraded children's and teen spaces, while Cloud 9 Spa was expanded. Accommodations were updated and additional retail and public areas were extensively refurbished before the renamed Carnival Sunrise returned to passenger service in late April 2019.
