The Isaac Peral class submarines are advanced diesel-electric attack submarines of the Spanish Navy developed as the S-80 Plus class. They incorporate air-independent propulsion using fuel cell technology that allows extended submerged endurance without snorkeling. The ships feature a sophisticated combat management system, improved stealth characteristics, and the ability to launch both torpedoes and cruise missiles. The class was designed with significant Spanish indigenous technology for long-range patrol and littoral operations in the Mediterranean and Atlantic.
