Track HMCS Protecteur's Current Position In This Live Military Ship Tracker
HMCS Protecteur (AOR 520) is a Protecteur Class Support Ship currently being built for the Royal Canadian Navy. HMCS Protecteur is being built by Seaspan ULC in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The ship has not yet been placed in active service.
The Protecteur class consists of two Joint Support Ships built for the Royal Canadian Navy under the National Shipbuilding Strategy. Based on the German Berlin-class design and constructed by Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards, the ships replace the retired Protecteur-class Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment vessels. They provide core at-sea replenishment of fuel, ammunition, spare parts and supplies, limited sealift capability, and support to operations ashore. The class features a hangar and flight deck for two CH-148 Cyclone helicopters, self-defence systems including Close-In Weapon Systems and remote weapon stations, and CBRN protection that allows operations in high-threat environments. They can also embark a joint staff and serve as a command ship within a naval task group.

HMCS Protecteur May Not Yet TrackableHMCS Protecteur is a new or upcoming military ship that may have an IMO (International Maritime Organization) number assigned early in construction. However, real-time tracking requires an MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identity) number assignment and active radio equipment onboard for AIS broadcasting. Tracking typically becomes active during final outfitting or sea trials, a couple of months before commissioning. As soon as HMCS Protecteur starts transmitting AIS signals, it will become trackable on the map below. Please check back for updates.
