The Dokdo-class amphibious assault ships (landing platform helicopters / LPHs) were built for the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN). Designed under the Landing Platform Experimental (LPX) program to significantly expand South Korea’s amphibious assault, helicopter operations, and military operations other than war (MOOTW) capabilities as part of its blue-water navy ambitions. Two ships were built by Hanjin Heavy Industries between 2005 and 2020.
