JS Akizuki Military Ship Details

The Akizuki class destroyers are advanced multi-mission destroyers of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force designed primarily for anti-submarine warfare escort duties. They feature exceptionally quiet propulsion systems, advanced hull-mounted and towed array sonar, and a 32-cell Mk 41 vertical launch system capable of firing a wide range of missiles. The ships incorporate stealthy hull shaping and signature reduction technology along with a hangar and flight deck for two SH-60 Seahawk helicopters. The class was developed specifically to protect larger Japanese task groups from underwater threats in the Western Pacific.
