The Paolo Thaon di Revel class consists of highly versatile multipurpose offshore patrol vessels, or Pattugliatori Polivalenti d'Altura (PPA), designed for the Italian Navy. Built around a common 143-meter platform, the class is produced in Light, Light Plus, and Full configurations, allowing capabilities to range from maritime patrol, surveillance, and humanitarian assistance to anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare. The ships feature advanced sensors, 127 mm and 76 mm naval guns, extensive aviation facilities, modular mission spaces, high speed of approximately 32 knots, and long endurance. Their flexible design allows the class to perform routine patrol and maritime security missions while the more heavily equipped variants can operate as first-line surface combatants.
