Seabourn announces world-class expedition team for 2014-2015 antarctica & patagonia v

SEATTLE, July 7, 2014 - Seabourn has assembled a world-class expedition team for its 2014-2015 "Ultimate Antarctica & Patagonia" voyages aboard Seabourn Quest beginning November 2014. With one of the largest expedition teams on any ship going to Antarctica, the 17-person team will bring intimate knowledge of the "White Continent" and expedition travel to ensure guests have the ultimate experience on board and on shore during the four 21- to 24-day voyages.

From Antarctica's singular landscapes and abundant wildlife to the rugged grandeur of Patagonia, guests are sure to experience a journey like no other when they sail on Seabourn's Antarctica and Patagonia voyages. There will be ample opportunities for guests to explore the region up close and personal, including a complimentary Zodiac landing each day to selected Antarctic locations, digital photography coaching, myriad opportunities for wildlife sightings from the ship and on the shore, and guidance and insight from a skilled expedition staff. The cruises will also host inspiring, special guest speakers as part of the line's Seabourn Conversations enrichment and entertainment program.

Handpicked and led by Seabourn Expedition Program Manager and Leader Robin West, the expedition team consists of naturalists, scientists, cultural and historical experts, and other lecturers who will share their wealth of knowledge and passion for Antarctica. Award-winning nature photographers will offer coaching tips on digital photography for guests to capture the diverse wildlife and remarkable landscapes. From distant sightings on-board to landings ashore, the staff will expertly guide guests to add valuable insights to the adventure. Many team members who participated in the line's inaugural Antarctic season are returning for the second season.

"We are proud to offer a very experienced expedition team that grasps the significance of Antarctica and its diverse landscape, wildlife and climatic conditions," said Seabourn President Richard Meadows. "With their expertise and dedication, our team will create an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime Antarctic journey for our guests.

West, a veteran of more than 40 Antarctic voyages, led the expedition team during Seabourn's highly successful first season in Antarctica in 2013. Guided by real-time reports on wildlife, weather and ice conditions, he will join his staff in planning and organizing days on the Antarctic Continent, seeking the best opportunities to spot wildlife from the ship and securing landing sites with significant historical, scenic and nature interest.

Beginning Nov. 29, 2014, Seabourn Quest will sail on a series of four 21- to 24-day voyages between Valparaíso, (Santiago) Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each includes days exploring the Chilean coast and fjords, Beagle Channel, Glacier Alley, the breathtaking Torres del Paine National Park, the Falkland/Malvinas Islands, Montevideo and six days of cruising and landings on the Antarctic Continent in uncompromised Seabourn luxury. A 24-day Holiday version, departing Dec. 20, 2014, will include two days exploring the sub-Antarctic wildlife Eden of South Georgia, renowned for its beauty and its vast, teeming rookeries of king penguins and other seabirds, as well as breeding elephant and fur seals.
